Potassium Alum, chemically known as potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, with the formula KAl (SO4)2 · 12H2O, is a colorless, transparent octahedral crystal or white crystalline powder. It is odorless and has a slightly sweet and astringent taste. It has important applications in multiple industries.

Potassium alum appears as colorless and transparent octahedral crystals or white powder, with a density of approximately 1.757g/cm³ and a melting point of 92.5℃. When heated to 92.5℃, it loses 9 molecules of crystalline water, and at 200℃, it loses all its crystalline water and turns into anhydrous potassium aluminum sulfate. It is highly soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is acidic. It can dissolve slowly in glycerol but is insoluble in ethanol.
